                 STAR REPORT

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

I have been humbled by the amazing start to our school year!  You all have created communities of learners that have fostered environments that will encourage students to take risks.
 THANK YOU!

It is so vital that we continue teach rituals and routines to our students.  I have visited classrooms and witnessed a culture that centers around classroom communities, social-emotional and instructional routines.  While we are building strong classroom communities where staff and students lead and learn together, I ask what are the instructional routines that you are putting in place that will continue build collective capacity to encourage ALL students to learn at their level together with your guidance and facilitation.  I ask you to question: How are you providing individualized instruction to all students? We know that this can only be done through small group instruction.  Please take a moment to review this White Paper that's focus was centered on the "Cafe Model."

If our grade level is looking to embark on a wonderful grade level book study with the ficus on the Cafe Model:

For general information about the Daily Cafe model and the the power that it can hold for students and teachers please click here.

As we learn and lead together we will provide individualized education that we can through measures that are thoughtful and researched based.

To a GREAT week!

Kirsten

Teach Like a Pirate Book Study

Please read the first PART of Teach Like a Pirate prior to our staff meeting on September 20, 2017.  While you are reading this text please take a moment to thing about and be able to respond to the notion of:

Please ask yourself how is the notion P.I.R.A.T.E. a part of your practice.  What does each letter mean to you and how does it pertain to your practice as an a leader and learner at Thomas Jefferson.   We will share our thinking at our September 20 staff meeting. Please be prepared with a reflection or response in your virtual or paper journal provided prior to the staff meeting. It is expected that all will share.

Student Positive Behavior Referral/Think Sheets

Please take a moment to fill at least one Positive Office Referral a week to the office. This is an amazing opportunity for our Stars to be celebrated and for the parents to receive a positive call.  If you have not thought about using the THINK SHEETS please do, they are a proactive intervention to a BIF and a way to share the processing of out students with their families prior to an office referral.  I have had three referrals come my way so far and it made their day, my day and their parent's day too!

RESTROOM TEACH TOO

Please take a moment this week to review the restroom expectations.  We have had to clean up quite a bit an it is early in the year.  The PBIS team has posted posters with expectations in the restrooms to reinforce the expectations, thank you for your time!
Your PBIS team LOVES you!
