Jan. 26, 2020
Today is my Dad's 74th birthday and as I celebrate this wonderful man, I am reminded about how important it is to live with a giving and caring heart. He is an example of the power of creating powerful relationships with people and how those meaningful and caring relationships enable change. I have been fortunate to watch him create meaningful relationships with people who many overlook. When I am able to work with him in these moments it grounds me back to our work at Thomas Jefferson. My Dad can create relationships with people that he comes in contact with on a weekly or monthly basis by supporting the homeless and refugee communities. He does this by truly listening, even with language interrupters, and thinking outside the box. He strives to eliminate judgment and collaboratively seek a solution. I have to say that this was a wonderful reminder of the work that we do together. I am reminded that together we can seek to understand and gather to solve problems; no matter what, whether it may be Essential Standards and Assessment, student behavior, PBIS...no matter what we can continue RISE together!
Thank you for all of your hard work on your Essential Standards documents, the Assessment Protocol Document and the RTI document. There have been some questions about the RTI document. I have asked that the document be completed by Jan. 31, this is with the mindset that you have completed your first cycle of inquiry that was begun in November and after 6 weeks you have evaluated and begun a new cycle. I understand that we are focusing on the Essential Standards for the first two months of 2020, but this work should be in unison with your RTI work. The form is to inform about the November cycle and its status and what your next focus is. Please do your best to complete the RTI form as a grade level about the November cycle by the end of the month and be able to discuss your data from the November cycle and your focus and progress on your next cycle in March.
