I hope you were able to enjoy the weather this past weekend! It felt like fall and now we are headed in another few days of summer heat. I don't know about you, but I am ready for it to just be Autumn! Here is to another great week!

Report Cards Comments
Otus provides a unique opportunity to communicate and paint a picture of how our students are performing by using the report card comment feature. This is even more important this trimester because we will not be holding parent-teacher conferences until February 2021. Report card comments should be “personalized, clear, precise, and meaningful report card comments are essential for informing students and their parents about what students have learned, their strengths as learners, and the next steps for improvement.”(Article Link)
Please enter comments for this trimester for every student in your class, communicating the items noted above. This is a unique opportunity for us to communicate with families and provide information when we are not able to hold conferences at this time.
In our PLC Lead meeting last week we discussed creating collective norms focusing on report card comments and the content of them. We will be collaborating on this over the next trimester to come to these common agreements.
Tri 1 Grade Reminders
A reminder you can check the blog post from 10/1 for more details. A few important highlights:
Teachers will need to have the report cards completed by the end of the day on October 27th to give clerical time to get the reports ready to send home.
If you need help or have any questions you can ask your LITE or Principal, or come to the optional PD on 10/12, 10/19, 10/26.
We are still working on the report card guides that will go home to parents in both English and Spanish and will have that information next week as well as more information about how report cards for elementary will go home to parents. Middle School will be emailing their report cards.
You are able to mass grade a rubric assessment (which is how elementary is scoring)
TK, K-5, and Elementary PE
Please review the guide below for the details needed on how to enter grades for TK, K-5, and Elementary PE. Elementary PE teachers will enter the PE participation grade. The guide includes step-by-step instructions and also has video tutorials at the end that explains this process.

Re-Opening Donations - Please share with families
As we prepare to reopen many families have asked what they can do to support our transition back to school.
It would be wonderful if families could donate hand-sanitizer and disinfectant wipes to the school. RCSD and the State of California have provided supplies but it is always nice to have extra supplies in our classrooms.
The disinfectant wipes have to be bleach/chlorine free, and the sanitizer has to be at least 70% alcohol. Individual bottles of hand-sanitizer would be fantastic! Here are some pictures below, but always double-check the labels.
Donation boxes will be in front of the school
Monday-Friday from 7:30-4:00.
