Dear Thomas-Jefferson Staff:
          It is with great pride and excitement that I write the first Star Report to the staff of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.  I am truly honored to be a part of a school that has such a rich tradition that is a pillar in our community.  
     
     I come to Roseville City School District from the San Juan Unified School District with experience as a site Principal and Assistant Principal.  Prior to my experience as an administrator I taught for over 16 years in multiple grade levels.  

          I am filled with excitement, the beginning of school year is like opening a special gift or me.  We are all filled with wonder and joy, eager to unwrap our own and our student's potential.  I have had the pleasure of meeting with several staff members and I am looking forward to meeting with you all to learn more from about our wonderful school.  Please take a moment to schedule a short meeting with me.

I hope you’re making the most out of the last few days of your summer vacation! The office and custodial staff have been very busy getting ready for the school year! We appreciate all of their hard work! 

I'm happy to report that we are almost finished hiring teachers to fill our vacancies! We would like to welcome new additions to our staff:
  • Stephanie Sage has joined the Thomas Jefferson team from Junction Elementary and is our new fourth grade teacher. She was a first grade teacher is eager to teach the upper grades.  We are THRILLED to have her on our team!
  • Kelly Ertola will be joining our fifth grade team! Kelly is a recent graduate of the credential program at William Jessup, she is filled with energy and joy and eager to be a part of our amazing TJ community!
  • Deborah Jordan joins us as our new 3-5 SDC teacher.  She joins the TJ team from Vincel Brown Elementary School and we are so fortunate that she has joined our team to ensure that our SDC students are able to have a comprehensive school site program.
  • Kimber Gordan is our RSP teacher. Kimber is a veteran educator and come to us from the Bay area and she most recently was a Teacher on Special Assignment whose focus was on the Multiple Tiered Support Services plan for her past school district. Kimber has experience as a Special Education teacher and as an ELD coordinator.  She also has extensive PBIS knowledge.
  • Polly Keck will be joining out 1st grade team and she come us the Roseville area from the Cupertino Union School District.  She has perviously been a Kindergarten and a first grade teacher.  She has taught in a language immersion program and also has PBIS experience.
  •  Dara Pfeiffer is our new School Psychologist. Dara is a veteran School Psychologist whose previous assignments include Flagstaff Unified School District and Sacramento Unified School District. She was also has extensive PBIS training. I am excited to have her join our TJ team!
  • Keri Kirst is our new Library/Media Specialist, she comes to us with a breadth of experience as an educator at Adventure Christian School.  She is eager to make our library a place where everyone wants to be!
  • Mary Jo Kruezer is our new Administrative Secretary.  We are thrilled to have her join our team, she was a guest secretary in the district and we are thrilled that she has found her home with us at Thomas Jefferson!
Please join me in welcoming our new staff members! They are great additions to the Thomas Jefferson family! 

The following teachers/staff members have made grade level changes or positions:
  • Amy Wilke moved from Kindergarten to 1st Grade.
  • Jo Balao moved from 2nd grade to Kindergarten.
  • Jennifer Hill moved from 2nd to a 2/3 combo. (THANK YOU Jennifer)
  • Suzy Riley moved from 4th grade to Kindergarten.
  • Brent Edson moved from 5th to a 4/5 combo.  (THANK YOU Brent!)
Thank you for supporting them in their new positions!

The following is a pending hire:
  • SPED IA position (we are interviewing on Wednesday)

Here are some information regarding upcoming events:
Our office ours are a bit fragmented this week because of training.  Please see the office hours for this week below:
August 9             8:00 am – 11:30 am
August 10           8:00 am – 3:30 pm
August 11           *CLOSED*
August 12           8:00 am – 3:30 pm
I will be at trainings on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and will be returning to campus as asoon as possible.

Our Clerical staff and I have been back to work since Monday, August 1st. Custodians are still finishing up deep cleaning. If you need assistance in your classroom, please let the office know. Please do not disturb the custodial staff. The office will make arrangements to ensure you get the help you need.

Our TK teacher and Kindergarten staff will be hosting an Orientation evening for our parent community. 

Monday, August 15, 2015       
District Wide Professional Development.               8:30 am-3:30 pm
We will be meeting at Gates Elementary School K-2 and RSP/SDC and Brown for 3-5 for out PD on this day! I am looking forward to learning and leading with you all!  Please see the link below further information:
