Bulletin for Week of 8/22/16

THANK YOU!

"The best made plans of mice and men often go awry..."

That is so very true...on Friday afternoon when,  I sat down to write this blog...I got a text from my husband that we were headed to Thunder Valley to see Culture Club.  A little ditty about me...I was the "Pretty in Pink" gal, who loved the 80's New Wave music!

My husband and brother-in-law and me at an 80's throw-back show this summer...such fun!

Really...are you kidding me???? I get to see Boy George?!?! I hence closed my laptop and headed home to freshen up and head to the show...and then...

I met the Culture Club!

What an evening!

With a busy weekend of reflection, family and fun...here is our blog...

I thank you all for the tardiness of this blog...

Thank you for an amazing first two days of school! Everything went smoothly and our students are wonderful! Several families shared that the feeling on campus was one of acceptance, warmth and happiness.   Thank you for all that you've done to make this possible!

I have been able to visit every classroom over the last couple of days. I know that your students felt welcomed and invited when they entered your classrooms! Thank you for all of your hard work! I also saw some team building activities implemented in classrooms. I heard a teacher talk our common agreements of Be Safe, Be responsible and Be Respectful. What a great way to lay the foundation of a great year!

Thank you to our amazing support staff, who placed ensured that students were placed into Power School, placed in classes, assisted with lunch duty, set up for our assembly and helped support our Kindergarten cryers.  With out this collaborative team effort we would not have had such a successful start.

Your students did an excellent job at the Welcome Back Assembly on Friday, considering it was only the second day of school!

Changes in Prep Schedule

ELA Assessment Rep.

In order to ensure that all grade levels have a complete understanding of the new ELA assessment expectations each grade levels has a representative that will attend a meeting each trimester at the District Office and then bring back the information to their team.  The following representatives are forwarded to me this fall...
K - Susan Reilly
1st - Linda Logie
2nd - Jackie Platt
3rd - Jen Hagan
4th - Stephanie Sage
5th - Brent Edson

It has been brought to my attention that this information may be new to you, I am sorry.  We however need to ensure that we have grade level representation at each meeting.  I spoke to Susan Fidly and she shared that if the responsibility needed to be shared, each trimester then that would work too.   We just need Thomas Jefferson reps at each meeting.  Please let me know who is your grade level rep. is.  The meetings are rapidly approaching and we need to let Susan know who will be in attendance.  Thanks!

I have attached the ELA Assessment Responsibilities  and the dates of the meetings to this blog, it includes the dates and expectations.
