THANK
YOU!
WHAT A GREAT START!
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
What an amazing first two days of school! As I walked the classrooms and the campus of our amazing school I was humbled by the welcoming smiles, warm hugs and joy in children’s eyes as they were greeted by each one of you.
Thank you for welcoming our students with open hearts and without reservation, you made their first days of school a wonderful experience.
We have had to make some changes to our class rosters; we were able to dissolve the K/1 Combo and Stephanie will be teaching a straight first grade class. Thank you to to Stephanie, Jo, Liz, and Suzy for welcoming your new additions with opening arms.
Please note that due to numbers that we may have to make further changes. I will keep you posted.
As we now only have one combination class on campus we need to support Jenneth and her kiddos to the best of our ability. This may result in a change in the prep schedule to ensure that her students have access to CORE curriculum. I will keep you posted as we problem solve.
One again I am humbled by the grace of you all! Our STARS are lucky to have you all in their lives!

SOLAR ECLIPSE UPDATE!
After further thought, we will be hosting our RISE welcome assembly on Tuesday at 2:30. I do not want children walking to and from the MPR during the eclipse. This will be a PERFECT time for you to review the safety procedures with your class. We will NOT be taking our students out to the field to observe the eclipse; this could result in a lack of supervision and we need to ensure that we are monitored at all times. I will be hosting a school wide all call announcing the event and safety expectations.
1. Primary grades please take a few students out at at time to ensure that they are well monitored. If you have volunteers, perhaps you can have one in your classroom and you and the other volunteers monitoring the kiddos who are watching the eclipse.
2. Upper grades, teachers please have students walk outside their classrooms with heads down, face the wall, and the put glasses on before facing the sun.
3. If you have students who's parents asking that they opt out of the event pleas have them check them out online at:Discovery Channel , Mystery Science.
WE SHOULD NOT HAVE STUDENTS LOOKING AT THE SUN FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME! We know that children have short spans of attention and we really want to minimize the behavior management issues that can arise with too much time being spent on watching. For example, go outside and have the children view the eclipse in Roseville and then go back into the classroom and check it out on Discovery channel and have students discuss if there were any differences.
PLEASE REMID STUDENTS: not to take off glasses while looking at the eclipse. Their pupils will be enlarged because of the dark glasses. They are to have the glasses on at all times while looking at the eclipse.
It is my exception that all students are receiving instruction about this once in a life time event; this was shared at our last staff meeting.
This is a once in a life in a lifetime event and let's make it grand!
