Thank you so much for taking on the Benchmark and the Scholastic assessments with your students. The time and attention that you have taken will assist in forming guided reading groups and support our work with RTI. I will be meeting with Diana this week to further discuss RTI and we will begin as a staff to focus on a data wall to guide our work. As you meet in PLCs please not what the data is tell in you. I know that there are MANY questions about Benchmark, I will be available in the staff room during tomorrow's (9/12)PLC, if grade levels are interested in a collaborative learning session. I will have grade level reports available to help guide the work.
Please refrain from sending Parent Reports home to parents until we have come to a common agreement about what we are going to send and how we are supporting our parent community's understanding of this new assessment.
Walk Throughs
We have been so busy with the start and launch of school, I have not been in classroom as much as I would have liked. Our Professional Development focus for the last year has been on listening and speaking. In order to honor that work the walkthrough focus will focus on structured academic conversations. How often are you having students speak with each other using academic language throughout the day?
POSSIBLE LUNCH SCHEDULE CHANGE
In order to assist in supporting the RSP schedule and to ensure that we have adequate coverage and supervision on the playground we will be moving the K/1 lunch back ten minutes. This would also mean that EDSON and VOSE would have to switch music preps on Mondays. I am awaiting DO approval and approval from food services, once this is cleared we will move forward. I just wanted to give you a heads up.
