As we being to confer with parents and students alike about their "reading level," it is vital that we take pause and look at the WHOLE reader. I wonder, when sharing the STAR results from AR with a parent are we taking in to account how this student responds to text in class? Are we sharing the reading behaviors that their child embraces and the behaviors in which they need to grow? Or are we just sharing a STAR level, an iReady score, or a benchmark score? Are we LOOKING at the WHOLE reader and sharing those results, all of which are OBSERVED from your watchful eye and your thoughtful conferences. I ask you to think about students BEYOND the score and look at them as people to engage with text in many different ways. And ask ourselves are we teaching the program or are we teaching the CHILD? Please take time to explore the following articles, we will be collaborating about this this Spring and during the upcoming academic year.

Spirit Friday 3/17/2017 -GREEN Friday or TJ Spirit Day!
Please remind students to wear GREEN or TJ Spirit Wear on Friday, March 17, 2017. We will be taking a class tallies of who is in GREEN or TJ Spirit Wear and the two classes with the most students in GREEN or TJ Spirit Wear will win a special prize!
We are at then end stretch of our Star Struck rehearsals! Michelle, our instructor has done an amazing job of teaching our students their dances. It is very important that if your students are rehearsing with Michelle you are ACTIVELY present in supporting her with classroom management. If a behavior would not be OK in your classroom it is not OK on the stage. Please remind our STARS that they need to RISE at all times.
