Team TJ!
Last week was truly a testament to the ENTIRE staff and the heart that you ALL put in to our amazing school.  I have said it before, I am HUMBLED by the grace in which each staff member supports one another, our families and our students.  With less than 20 days left of school it is important to make every moment count.  For many of our students the thrill of summer days and pool parties is a thing to look forward to and for others the thought of not having the routine of school and the uncertainty of summer can bring causes anxiety.  It is important that we keep both of these perspectives in mind as we see changes in behavior.
It is important that we reteach RISE expectations and ensure that students are reminded of them, even this late in the year.

Thank you for ALL that you do!

- Kirsten

There is a saying "If it not broke, don't fix it."  While that may be true, I ask myself the question does this apply to school's and education.  While things are not broken at TJ there is always an opportunity to improve and grow in our practice to meet the needs of our students.  I have had some time to think about our staff meeting and I want to take a moment to apologize for not being more clear about the intent of the Site Leadership Team.  The intent of the team is to meet monthly to create meaningful cycles of inquiry as we move forward as a site.   The team focuses on site based collaborative decision making that centers around our PLC work that is grounded on data and professional learning.  The team will be the center of transparent feedback loops where all voices can be heard.  I have attached a couple articles that will provide more information about Site Leadership Teams; these articles may provide a clearer picture of the intent of the work. I truly believe that this is the next step in moving Thomas Jefferson forward in creating a site based collaborative decision making school.

CASSPP

This is the LAST week of CASSPP!  We will be conducting make-ups and it is VITAL that you as well as the Coordinators, Kimber and I, run completion reports on a DAILY basis.  We have some kiddos who were out of town last week, please ENSURE that they are ready to make up assessments tomorrow.  The fifth graders who went to Cooley Step Up will make up their Science test at 9:00 am Monday, May 22, 2017 in room 6.  All other make ups will begin after recess or when they students are done with the Science test.

ENSEMBLE

The Choir Ensemble will be performing on Thursday, May 25 at 6:30 pm.  If you are able to come out and support our kiddos I know that they would love to see your faces in the audience.

Volunteer Tea

We have invited between 150-175 volunteers to the event.  Please bring enough food to serve 10. Here is the schedule for the Volunteer Breakfast:

8:15-8:35 Visit with volunteers

8:35-8:50   Mrs. Acke thanks volunteers

8:50-? Students sing starting with TK/K. When you see the previous grade walk into the multi, then please line up your grade level. Thanks,

A little favor for whoever has Northstar duty. Would you mind getting out to the Northstar a little early. We are trying to make this a volunteer only event.

iReady

The window is open.  We will need one Cart for make up CASSPP purposes. Please assess both Reading and Math over the next two weeks.  This will allow us to use this information as a basis for RTI in the fall.
