Thomas Jefferson Star Report
March 30, 2018
Hello Team TJ!
I hope you all had a wonderful break. The weather has been marvelous and it truly feels like Spring! Thank you for sharing your SMART goals before the break! It was once again a cycle of inquiry that met the needs of students and it was exciting to see the growth that has been made. We will have time during out PD day on Monday to explore our data and write another goal for the home stretch of the school year. We will also be looking at our Benchmark curriculum through the lens of vocabulary and language objectives. This work will be the foundation of a 1/2 day planning session this Spring to map put the vocabulary instruction for the first unit(s) for next year. Please see the Agenda HERE!
I look forward to seeing you all Monday morning at 8:00 am in the staffroom for a light breakfast, tea, and coffee will be served and the PD will begin promptly at 8:30 AM
Enjoy the weekend!
Kirsten
BELL SCHEDULE!

You will note that the recess has been moved back to 10:45 AM. This is accomodate the PE prep schedule.
STAR STRUCK REHEARSAL AND ASSEMBLY SCHEDULE
We will be starting our first day back from break with rehearsals and the assembly.
Last Practice:
This week each class will come over to her for 15 minutes each. Please see your schedule that she handed you during your last class as a time reminder.
The first 5 minutes she will not be working with your class. You will need to use these 5 minutes to get your class lined up, in number order, and have them outside and ready for their entrance. Your number chart was attached in that hand out as well.
As soon as she is done with the class prior to yours, she will come to the outside area and have them practice their entrance from there. Then she will run their dance once with counts, once with music, and then have them practice their exit.
Assembly:
The key to having the assembly is to have the students practice in front of a big audience before the nighttime performances. Plus, it is fun to see all of their friends' dances and show off everything they have been working on the entire time. I do hope to see every class at both assemblies.
When it is assembly time, all students need to be dressed and ready to go. Assemblies: Tues. April 3rd at 10:30am and Thurs. April 5th at 10:40am.
Half of the gym we will have the group that is not performing sitting together, and the other half of the gym we will have all the performers. This way everyone can see both assemblies and all classes do their dances.
If you are performing, please have your class sitting in their line-up order, #1 to the end of your line, so they are ready to go. We will use the "On Deck" system during the assembly. One group on stage performing, while the next group is "On Deck", outside in their line-up order ready to go. So to make it easier, they should just be able to stand up and go straight to the outside stage to enter, already in their line-up order.
The evening shows they will be in their classrooms and will be called up to perform. So you will then need to have them in their line-up order once they leave their classroom.
Good luck to all of the classes. I know the shows will be amazing.
Thanks - Carrie Pereira
