Week of August 20, 2018

Team TJ!

It was truly amazing visiting classrooms last week.  WE DID IT!  We completed the first FULL week of school.  I don't know about anyone else, but I was TIRED!  Tired but a good tired!

Thank you so much for taking the time to teach and reteach the expectations to your students. We know that  with our explicitly teaching the rituals and routines and clear expectations classroom environments have the potential to fail. It is vital that we take this time to create meaningful and positive relationships with their students and to be very clear about what is expected on our campus and in our classrooms. Thank you so much for taking the time to create such positive caring inconsistent environments for Our Stars.

I also know that you are teaching rituals and routines in content areas too. This is an amazing opportunity for us to model how to live writerly lives while introducing Writer's Workshop. I have been actively living in a writer's notebook for the past 10 years. I would be more than happy to share my writer's notebooks with students, to teach a lesson about how to generate ideas or to come in and share the importance of a writer's notebook in my life. If you're interested in having me come into your classroom to share my writer's notebook or to collaborate on how you introduce writer's notebooks into your classroom please feel free to reach out to me.

I have also set a goal to have three NO Office days a month. This means that I will be in classrooms, on the playground and NOT in my office ALL Day! The first No Office Day is this Thursday. I am excited to see the amazing things happening on campus!

Have a great week!

PICTURE DAY IS TUESDAY! Please be prepared to take your class to the MPR for individual pictures and to take class pictures.  We are asking that all staff take an individual picture for the yearbook...THIS MEANS ALL STAFF.  Please spread the word.  If are a  staff please head to the stage to take your picture before the photographers leave.

ANNUAL NOTICES AND PARK FIELD TRIP FORMS

Please collect all forms before turning them into the office.  Please SCAN the field trip forms and email them to Kristy.  You will need the originals for when you go to the park.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY

If you are interested in attending this series, please let Kirsten know. This is an amazing opportunity to learn more about Balanced Literacy and how to support our students in ELA.
