Happy Spring!

This weekend was the first weekend that it really felt like Spring.  It was delightful to be able to get some vitamin D and enjoy the sunshine!  As we prepare for the last few weeks of school it is important to remember that the last days of the school year are equally as important as the first. We have some amazing events coming our way, Grandparents Day, Going Buggy and Mother's Day Team just to name a few these signature events are part of our culture and fiber of our school.  THANK YOU all for the time and effort that you are putting into them.

Please remember to highlight fellow staff member with your lollipop moment.

It can be a small moment that means the world to you and let that person know!

Spring Break is JUST around the corner!  We got this!

EASTER EGG AND BUNNY HUNT

There will be one stuffed rabbit and three eggs hidden in the Office Wing each day before Spring Break.  The rabbit will be moved each day and the eggs will stay until they are found.  Be sure to search high and low for the eggs.  If you find the by bunny please bring it to Kristy and you get your choice from a prize pool.  If you find one of the eggs you win what is inside!  Let's have some fun before Spring Break!

Progress Report Reminder

A reminder that progress reports need to go home by next Friday, April 12th.  Brandon sent an email with more details, reminders, and how-to guides.

Student Articulation

As we conclude the school year, I would like us to explore revisiting Articulation Portfolios.  The articulation cards are very informative, yet as we transition students to the next grade there is vital assessment data that is being lost.  I know that I would greatly appreciate a copy of a BPST, the last Reading Inventory, and a writing sample to help guide my first few weeks of instruction.  Please discuss this with your grade-level teams and we will discuss this further at Leadership on Wednesday.

Score Reports in PowerSchool

The message below was sent to all parents in grades 3-8.
California Department of Education (CDE) is transitioning to a paperless system for 2019 CAASPP (California Assessments of Student Performance and Progress) tests. We are pleased to announce that our district is making specific score reports from Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) available for parents for testing years 2017 and 2018.
Here are a few key details:

  • If your child took the 2017 and/or 2018 Math and ELA (English Language Arts) SBAC tests, you will be able to view, download, and print the score results.
  • Moving forward, all score reports will be available using PowerSchool’s parent portal.
  • The district will no longer receive paper copies from CDE.  Consequently, we will no longer mail score reports starting with the 2019 administration.
Please find attached a ‘how-to’ guide on how to access these results.

RCSD Staff can access the score reports this way:

PowerSchool Administrators: Once logged in, search for any student and click on their name to bring up the student screens. From the left navigation menuclick State/Province - CA, then select Score Reports from the list.

PowerSchool Teacher: Once logged in, from the Current Classes page, click on the backpack icon to the right of any section. Select any student from the list, and using the Student Screen drop-down menu to the right, select Score Reports from the list.
