September 14-18, 2020
A Note from Kirsten,
I don't know about you but this week was hard, the gloom of the smoke in the sky, the raining ash, and the overwhelming pressure of our current situation weighed heavy on my shoulders and heart and then I jumped into some Zooms!
Together we are lighting the path!
There are SO many wonderful things happening in your classrooms:
TK students having a talent show and SHINING like true stars! Powerful SIPPS lessons in our primary grades where students are engaged and learning to read. Comparing fractions using different strategies, while utilizing breakout groups where our Stars were collaborating and problem-solving together!
You are all lighting the pathway with your collaboration, thoughtful lesson planning, and communication with families.
Thank you!
Kirsten
Parent Survey
Parents will be sent an email on Monday, September 14, 2020. Surveying the families about which instructional program they will choose. Families will be provided a FAQ about both programs and I will be sending a video on Monday highlighting the importance of completing this survey and making mindful decisions based on this information.

Data that could be used are our iReady Data, District Foundational Kills, and other data that is informing your identified essential Standard. There are two PLCs before we start Data Team Meetings.
New DTM folders will be created this weekend for your grade level. Please be on the lookout for this information.
I am looking forward to meeting with you and engaging in collaborative conversations about interventions about our next steps in supporting all students.
Progress Reports
A reminder, Elementary Progress Reports need to go home by September 25th.
There are two minimum expectations from the District when it comes to Progress Reports 1st Trimester:
Any student that might receive a Limited on any domain on the Trimester 1 Report Card receives communication regarding progress from their teacher during progress report time. This includes both academic domains, and the academic behavior and college readiness standards.
PLCs are on the same page in regards to what information they send home and when they send that home.
In order to provide consistency across our school site, please use the RCSD Progress Report Template provided in the RCSD Educators Blog.
I believe that it is best practice to send the PDF of the Progress Reports to parents, but if that is outside of your comfort zone please ensure that the parent does not have editing rights.
If you are sending additional information to further communicate and clarify grade-level benchmarks please ensure that your entire PLC is on the same page.
